5 Everyday Tasks Your Small Business Can Hand to AI This Week

You don't need a big budget or a technical team to start using AI. Here are five low-risk places most small businesses can put AI to work this week.

You don't need a big budget or a technical team to start using AI. Here are five low-risk places most small businesses can put AI to work this week.

1. First-draft emails and replies

If you or your team write the same kinds of emails every day — quotes, follow-ups, scheduling confirmations — an AI assistant can turn a few bullet points into a polished draft. You still review and send it; the writing just stops eating your morning.

2. Meeting notes and summaries

Record (with permission) and let AI produce the notes: what was decided, who owes what, and the next steps. Ten minutes of cleanup beats an hour of typing.

3. Spreadsheet cleanup and simple reports

AI tools are good at tidying inconsistent data — matching customer names, standardizing addresses, splitting full names into first and last. Once the data is clean, simple monthly reports become much less painful.

4. Turning policies into an internal Q&A assistant

Most teams answer the same questions repeatedly: PTO policy, refund process, supplier lead times. Put your documents in an AI assistant and let staff ask in plain English, with you checking the answers it gives.

5. Repurposing one piece of content

Write the newsletter once, then let AI draft the social post, the customer email blurb, and the blog intro from it. You approve the final versions.

Start small, then grow

Pick the one task on this list that eats the most hours and try it for two weeks. Small wins build confidence — and show you where a bigger workflow is worth building.
